Doctors refer to diabetes as diabetes mellitus and describe it as a failure of group metabolism in which a person gets high levels of blood glucose or blood sugar. It is caused either because of inadequate insulin production or mainly when the cells of the body do not respond to insulin properly or both. Medical practitioners divide diabetes into three major types namely, Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, and Gestational Diabetes.
Experts say that the common symptoms of diabetes, include frequent urination, sudden and intense hunger and thirst, unusual weight gain or loss, cuts and bruises that don’t heal easily, fatigue, male sexual dysfunction, tingling and numbness in hands and feet. Doctors often take the help of some medical tests like the A1C test, FPG (Fasting Plasma Glucose) Test, and OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) to diagnose and detect Diabetes.
Medical professionals say that people with type 1 diabetes have to carry on the disease for their entire lifetime whereas people with type 2 can manage to get rid of the diabetic symptoms with a proper combination of diet, exercise, and body weight control. Doctors often prescribe type 1 diabetic people insulin injections along with a personalized special diet and exercise whereas type 2 patients are prescribed with tablets, and a special diet though injections are also prescribed to some in critical cases.
There are various other herbs like holy basil, fenugreek, berberine, Cinnamomi Matamala, Vinca Rosea, and Gingko. Doctors and specialists say that the natural medical science Ayurveda requires much more research. They also stated that it cannot replace the allopathic medicines currently, but they are proven to give extraordinary results in treating diabetic patients. Scientists say that the day is not far when Ayurveda and herbal medicines will soon replace allopathic medicines which have high side effects.
